December 2013 BCATW Buzz

Your President’s 2013 Holiday Wish

May you all be healthy and happy! So let’s reduce shopping frenzies and increase strolls through wintery woods and holiday-adorned ‘hoods… And let’s dedicate ourselves to more peaceful reflections and renewal of old friendships… All in favor, say aye!

And in 2014, let’s proceed to build our BCATW as a more collegial organization better inspiring and supporting our far-flung endeavors as raconteurs…

Ruth Kozak had two more stories published in Europe Up Close. One on finding archaeology in the metro of Athens Greece and the other about the Jewish Museum of Greece. There are lots of great stories up on this month’s Travel Thru History,  a travel ‘zine that Ruth edits and publishes. Feel free to submit. Check the submission guidelines.

Irene Butler wants to take this opportunity to thank all those who volunteered for board positions at the recent AGM, and is anxious to hear the results!

Irene and her husband Rick have now been in Ecuador for nearly a month and have spent time in Quito, the Galapagos, and then south to Loja and the village of Vilcabamba. Almost too busy to write…but their Quito story and photos/short video clips are now on their website, Global Trekkers. Note their new website banner.

Although not yet formally notified, Irene’s Mexican Family Christmas story will be in the December issue of Senior Living Magazine.

And further to that, one of the excursions from this Mexican Festive Season – namely loading up 18 family members for a boat excursion to snorkel and whale watch- will appear in December closer to Christmas in the publications affiliated with Travel Writers Tales, and on the website. Thanks Margaret and Jane for this great exposure!

Darlene Foster had a short article on the Children’s Writers and Illustrators of BC blog site on how visiting a graveyard on the Isle of Wight inspired a scene in her book, Amanda in England – The Missing Novel.

Your BUZZ Coordinators, Darlene Foster and Mari Kane, would like to wish everyone a safe, peaceful and Happy Christmas. We look forward to publishing the BUZZ in 2014.
