The wind was howling as BCATW members braved the pounding rain to attend the BCATW.org Writers Directory Upload Party presented by Mari Kane at Oakridge Library on December 11th 2014.
Despite some issues with the library wi-fi, BCATW members and a couple of guests had the opportunity to learn more about the Writers Directory, how to submit our listings, as well as having a chance to discuss holiday plans.
The online directory will allow clients seeking writers in specific genres to find qualified members, drive more targeted and contextual traffic to the site and give member sites links and increased visibility to search engines. We are looking forward to seeing your listings and having the directory go live.
For members who couldn’t attend, check out the quick guide below on how to submit your own listing. If you have any questions, please let us know.
- Go to https://bcatw.org/directory/ and click on Submit Your Listings near the top right of the page
- Click on “click here” to begin the registration process
- After you complete the demographic information and press “submit,” you will be taken to the Submit Your Business page. Please enter your information in the boxes. This is your chance to add links to your writings, pick your genres, upload photos and provide a link to any Youtube or Vimeo video. You can save your information by scrolling to the bottom and clicking “Save Draft.” Once you are finished, click on “Submit”.
- You will receive confirmation that your details have been submitted. Before they will appear in the directory, they need to be approved. Meantime, you will receive an e-mail with your log in right away and another e-mail once your listing has been approved.
- Once approved, you can edit your listing by logging in and clicking “My Listings” then “Edit My Listing”at the top of the screen in a grey tool bar
If you have any suggestions for the Writers Directory, such as new genres to add, please post leave a comment here or contact BCATW directly.
Remember to sign up to the BC Association of Travel Writers Meetup to find out about future meet ups. Happy holidays and we hope to see you at the next one in the new year.
Well done!
