President’s Message

Dear fellow travelers, It’s been a tough few months for all of us with the quarantines and borders blocked, etc. due to Covid-19.  I wonder how you spent your time? Did you manage to get on any local trips?  Did you get any travel stories published?

Ebus Vancouver to Salmon Arm

I was lucky to take the new Ebus that has replaced the Greyhound, to Salmon Arm. I highly recommend this as an alternate way of travel if you don’t have a car. The buses are brand new, comfy and I think better than Greyhound.  The drivers are congenial and there are strict Covid rules to keep passengers safe while on board.  I enjoyed my trip to Salmon Arm with a stop at Kamloops for an hour en route and coming back from Kelowna, a stop at Merritt.  Because I couldn’t get to my beloved Greece this year, this was a great alternative as the climate and scenery is much the same in many ways with the orchards and vineyards and lakes.

So I hope you all had the best summer you could. We are sad we can’t do our meet-ups yet but as soon as we find a way to make communications safe we’ll let you know.  Meanwhile, stay safe, and stay well.  Keep on dreaming of those trips you will take in future and don’t forget to write about your travels.  You can contribute some of those to the BUZZ or on our FB page.

Regards,

Ruth Kozak, President BCATW

Banff and Lake Louise

BCTWA travel writer Edward Quan wrote about visiting Banff and Lake Louise with COVID-19 conditions this summer, plus an Okanagan winery review soon to be posted on his blog, Style Drama.

Launching a You Tube Channel

With one eye on the future, Edward Quan has spent the summer self-learning video production and is about to launch Style Drama’s You Tube channel.

You Tube is now the second ranked search engine and believes offering video travel reviews is necessary to grow your audience on the internet.

As a beginner, he is using his existing iPhone rather than purchasing a new camera. Learning hand held panning to creating voice overs and editing.

His first video “Shatter on The Beaumont” a review on a new Vancouver Halloween attraction will be published soon.

Learn more about Edward Quan’s self-learning experiences with You Tube in future issues of the BCATW Buzz.
