President’s Message

I hope everyone has had a wonderful summer, and many new adventures for future travel stories. I will be traveling in Germany, Greece and Wales for six weeks from August 27 to Oct 4. Part of the trip is research and book promotion  as well as gathering new travel story material. We’re looking forward to planning the next symposium for the Fall as well as more excellent Meet-Up sessions. Volunteers are needed for both the Meet-Ups and the symposium, if you can offer a few hours of your time, please contact Edward Quan at edward@nullstyledrama.com.

The Shedeen John Thomson BCATW August 2019 Buzz

The Irish call illegal public houses shebeens.  John Thomson calls them tiny houses with attitude. His recent trip to Ireland spawned a fun, little story about a Galway man who has mounted his shebeens on wheels and tows them from one place to another. Can’t say the Irish aren’t enterprising. www.dzinetrip.com/tiny-homes-with-attitude. Meanwhile, a larger story on Santa Monica – grunge meets glamour – was published in the July edition of Senior Living, recently rebranded as Inspired magazine. The mayor calls Santa Monica “happy town.” The author agrees. www.seniorlivingmag.com/santa-monica
