President’s Message

Hello members,

An important date for you to mark down on your calendar: Our AGM is on March 8, at the Spaghetti Factory (next to New Westminster skytrain station) 12:30 pm.  An opportunity to meet over a non-hosted lunch and to share our travel stories. We hope you will make an effort to attend to discuss important items on the agenda:  Besides finances, the website which will be undergoing some changes so we need your input. We have extended the membership renewal date to March 8th. Please ensure your dues are paid before the AGM, as this is a member only event.

Over this past month Edward Quan and I have met a few times to discuss plans for the BCATW and we also had a phone conference with Erica Hargreave.  I appreciate the time and effort they have put in to make BCATW a well-run successful organization.

To add to the news: I am considering holding a  workshop on Travel Writing Basics some time this Spring. It could be a 2 hr session or a 4 week session depending on the wants and needs of those who register.  If you are interested in improving your travel writing skills, learning how to market your stories, etc, message me at wynnbexton2@nullgmail.com.

Looking forward to seeing you all at the AGM. Your support is very much appreciated.

EXPERIENCE EGYPT – Cradle of the Nile

The world is indeed indebted to the people of ancient Egypt for achieving the longest living civilization of the ancient world – 3300 BC to 30 BC. Many of the Egyptian achievements in construction and lifestyle are still available to us over 5000 years later and are a must see for people of all ages. Our journey through this ancient land not only offers visits to the pyramids, sphinx and the world famous Egyptian Museum, but also a look at the achievements of the medieval Islamic period such as the majestic Al Azhar Mosque, Salahuddi’s citadel, the city of Cairo and the famous Khan-el-Khalil bazaar. These World Heritage Sites are visited in a combination of land, train and a 5-day Nile cruise. Few will fail to see the charm of this spectacular and ancient country; the land where it all began.
