President’s Message: Its’ not 2020 anymore.
The Canadian travel industry cannot afford another cancelled summer tourist season. Yet PM Justin Trudeau response last Friday is that he had “meetings” to discuss our border entry requirements, which are the most restrictive in the G7 was another disappointment. There is no ownership with our industry challenges before us and no leadership. Canadian medical professionals and the travel industry believe that travel risks are now manageable. Without a reopening plan in place this spring, potential visitors will book elsewhere and the summer season will be lost.

Travel journalism is hard work and selling your stories can be equally as tough. For myself, developing a unique story angle and writing my piece is the easy part. Selling your articles requires a marketing strategy.
I have learned over the years that by creating a marketing plan for yourself is the best way to sell your stories. For success you need to:
-
research various regional and national print and online publications
-
find an unique story angle that fits the publication
-
craft a persuasive pitch letter
For my session, I will provide you with details on how to research publications, find the right story angle and craft a compelling pitch letter.
Join us on Tuesday February 22nd.
